Buying Electric Fireplaces

Why Won’t My Electric Work?

About 3 weeks ago I went to turn on the light over my fireplace and it would not turn on, I checked the outlets (on what I believe is the same circuit) and they too did not work. I checked the circuit breaker and it was not tripped. Where do I go from here?

First, don’t just look at the breakers. Turn each one off and then back on again.
If that doesn’t work, try to figure out if the power in the same room works at one plug but not the next. Take the last one working out and the first one not working out. Check for any loose wires.
Be careful, there will be a load on the wires and you don’t want to get between that.
If you are not comfortable, call an electrician.

check the bulbs anyway just in case. but it could be a short or if squirrels can get to the wires between the walls then they could chew through them. and check for a loose connection at the breaker. even if it isnt tripped, if a wire came off the breaker itself then you get no power even if the breaker is switched on.

Try the GFCI outlets. One of them may be tripped. I suspect that because some outlets are also dead. It could be in the kitchen or outside or in the bathroom or garage, Test them all once a month. Push the test button and then the reset button.

Sounds like a loose connection somewhere up line. The “stab” style connections are notorious for getting loose over time.

If there is a GFCI “up stream” from that area in the circuit,it could be tripped and need resetting.
