Which Is Cheaper To Use, Electric Fireplace Or Portable Heater?
since both uses electricity, what can i use to compare, to see which is cheaper on electricity and provides better warmth. Its a localised area e.g. near working table to provide heat to tide through the cold winter

They both max. out at about 1500 watts of electric, I would look for something of a radiant type heat. The one I used to use looked like an old fashion radiator that was filled with a type of oil jell. This was great and inexpensive to use They cost about $34.00 and you can get them at any department store or hardware store. You will be pleased with it.

The electric fireplace uses some energy to make the light of the fake fire – the heater makes only heat and should be more efficient.
More importantly, you want an electric heater that puts out a fair bit of radiant heat. You will feel quite comfortable, even if the air is cold as long as you have some radiant heat. So, for example, the electric heaters that look like a big antenna dish and can be aimed at your work station.
