What’s Better & More Economical-elec, Gas, Oil, Coal As Far As Heating For A Fireplace/iron Stove?
Renovating an apartment in country/cabin style. I want a cast iron stove or fireplace. Not sure what the best route would be. Electric, gas, coal, or oil. Already has hot water radiators but this apartment will only be used occasionally by me. Don’t really like the idea of gas but I’m easily persuaded with enough info. Natural, or propane gas is the cleanest, and cost effectiveness is soon evident. Cleanup/residue/byproducts,,,etc are all part of any other fuel source.
In an apartment especially, you may have tenant, landord, code issues to consider, As well as safety.
Natural or propane are as safe and effective as a gas burning stove/oven, but in a fireplace situation, you won’t have to scrape food residue… UNLESS of course ya do marshmallows in the living room,,,smiles.

Electric is less maintenance
Coal is the cheapest.*

Wood is free, you just have to gather it up and chop it up, that’s all

It depends on the utility companies for the city or region you live in but generally natural gas is cheapest and oil is the most expensive.

go pellet stove it’s nice and cozy and you never have to start the fire
