Buying Electric Fireplaces

What Are These Called And Where Can I Buy Them?

I have a “fake” fireplace in the house I’ve just bought. It’s got the shelf part that goes down, and a marble bit on the floor, but there’s nothing at the back, just bare wall. So, I just wanted to know where I can buy a piece of marble to go against the wall so it actually looks like a proper fireplace, and I can get a nice feature or electric fire to go infront of it. I doubt I’ll be able to find matching marble to the part on the floor, so I’d need to be able to replace this part too.
Any ideas?

I have one of those too, I went to B&Q or Homebase and bought a thin sheet of fake marble, you can buy a matching set, so it fits in the base and the back, it looks great, not fake looking at all.

If you want real marble go to a stone yard ( where masons but their materials. But you can also use fake bricks that can be glued on ( either to the wall itself or better yet just to a piece of plywood so if you tire of it you don’t have to worry about redoing the wall). There are also faux stone products used for counter-tops etc available at home centers.

you can buy a micro (mock) marble from B&Q, reasonably priced and very realistic. I have it an its easy enough to trim to fit or buy a ready cut piece for the back plate.
    good luck with your project

You can buy an electric fire in any DIY store, but if it is in a place where a proper fire would have been at some point , wouldn’t it be better to have a gas fire installed

Try your local Stonemason (the guy who makes the gravestones) Thats where I got a piece of marble from that was half the price of the DIY or reclamation yards!
