Buying Electric Fireplaces

Those Electric Heaters That Look Like A Fireplace. Are They Worth It?

I seen ads in the Sunday paper, and also, those heaters are available in Wal Mart. Wonder if they are any good. The ad says they use about as much electricity as a coffee maker. Do you have one, and have you saved on electric bills with it? And how is the heat they put out? Are they really any good?
Thanks

They are nice for ambiance and that is about it! It will heat a room but not multiple rooms. They rack up the electric bill as much as a window a/c unit would! We have had one in the past and only used it for looks. We were going to get one for our finished attic that doesn’t have any duct work to it. It would have heated that room well, but we would only have heated the room when it was needed…which isn’t often. Otherwise it would have been outrageous!

If your looking for a electric space heater they are an overpriced option.
A $40 space heater will do the same for the same electricity usage. The one thing thats better is they are safer.
