who has one and how did you decide on the right one?

Electric fireplaces are becoming increasingly more popular since buying electric fireplaces are more cost effective, cleaner and easier to maintain.

A friend of mine recent bought one at Lowe’s similar to this:http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pr…
with the exception that hers also has a propane tank and a remote control and cost around $500. I’ve been in her house when it’s been on, and it really does heat up the room (the room she has it in is about 15 by 12 feet) quickly. The really cool thing is the remote control for starting the fire!

Sounds expensive to run – does it give out any heat?
I’m trying to find ways of reducing my electric bill – not raise it.
