Knocking Out A Plaster Fireplace?
i need to knock out our plaster fireplace suite, but there is no fire in it,and theres no flue or chimney there, its just against a normal wall.were wanting to put a new electric fireplace suite there.so it should be quite simple but was wondering how to do it?
do we just get the hammers etc out and knock it down?but were worried about wrecking the wall,i know we will have to replaster slightly but will it just come away easily?

look close and you might see where the fixing tabs are usually about 150mm (6″) from top on either side or above mantle piece, these tabs are attached to the fire place and screws are inserted to fix it to wall. in addition to this they might of dot and dabbed adhesive between fire place and the wall so if this is the case brute force and an amount of plastering. Also they will of used cork to fill in any discrepancies around where its attached to wall
