Buying Electric Fireplaces

Is It Safe To Put A Fireplace In The Bedroom?

I mean not the electric one but the real one. Does any body know?

As long as it’s properly vented, absolutely. I’ve been in quite a few houses that had one. Make sure the you use a screen (wood burner) if you plan to use it anywhere near bedtime to prevent sparks from coming out. Hope this helps.

Yes quite safe as long as you don’t position it under the bed! But, seriously, I would consider using natural gas instead of wood as it is much cleaner to breathe and natural gas eliminates the worry of wood popping and sending hot ash onto your carpet, bed, etcetera. I have a fireplace in my den powered by natural gas and it is as beautiful and genuine as a wood fireplace without the maintenance and safety issues. Also, with natural gas you can close the flue and all the heat generated will go into the room itself. If you use wood, you must keep the flue open and lots of energy is wasted. Good luck!

yes but the building codes may only allow gas since it is in a smaller enclosed space. I had a beautiful fireplace right next to our bed in our first owned home. There you buy ceramic logs and sand and there is something the fire place stores would know what its called that leaves glowing ambers in the sand and is very real natural look to the fireplace. I loved it with glass screen and metal screen combo hmmm memories of sitting in the spa tub with the lights dimmed red and the fireplace in perfect site.

I agree with KA and would add, don’t place the bed or bedding anywhere near the fireplace. It’s amazing how much heat a fireplace can put out into the room so your room should be a generous size or you’ll cook. Also, you won’t get a high return on your investment for resale value. If you’re putting one in just because you would enjoy it then go for it, but if it’s resale value you’re thinking of then your money would be better spent elsewhere.
    Good luck!

Sure as long as it is properly vented. Never go to bed with the fire still going and be sure the fireplace/ chimney is cleaned yearly.
