I Have These Weird Black Spots All Over My House.?
I have these weird black spots appearing all over my home. On my trash can, toilet, refrigerator, walls, etc… It looks like what a candle produces when it is burned (soot-like). We do not have a fireplace or anything like that. It is an electric furnace and we have just recently changed the filter. Any ideas??

Sounds like mildew. Happens where condensation is common or where spills might not be entirely cleaned up. Also, a low house with no vapor barrier on the ground, under it adds to fungus problems. No air circulation under the house even with decent height can cause this. If it is your own home, not rental, look into this, and correct it with vents and barriers. If rental, it will depend on the agreement to get a landlord to look into the problem.
Bleach based cleansers are good, but if you object to bleach, ( and I am one who does), try white vinegar to wipe it away. It’s a good cheap alternative that I have used. What you are describing doesn’t sound like a furnace issue to me.,more like mildew or other fungus, that result from humidity or lack of air circulation.

Sounds like mold to me. Are you renting or do you own? Either way you need to get someone in to check out your house. Some strains of mold can be very damaging to your health.

That is very strange, call a cleaning service and they can probably tell you just what it is and exactly how to get rid of it.

Mold??? Try using bleach to wipe it down. Also, it could be insect droppings.

this is mold. Do you have lots of plants or is it very humid and warm inside? Growing marijuana does this too as you need alot of heat and moisture. A clothes dryer venting into the house also adds to the humidity. Dry out the inside of the house with a dehumidifier and/or open a window, bleach wipe those spots. That should kill the mould. Dryness inside will keep it away.

It is black mold…Don’t make the mistake of cleaning it with bleach…diluted or not…bleach has an ingredient that actually promtoes future mold growth… Use amonia and it will cut down on the amount of cleaning you’ll have in the future…Here in SC, black mold is sadly a way of life and that’s one way to keep it under control..
Good luck
