Does Anyone Own An Electric Fireplace? How Well Do They Put Out Heat?
I lived in a 4-bedroom house where there was an electric fireplace in the basement. Most of the winter, all I needed was the fireplace to warm up most of the upstairs! (and that’s in Northeastern Ontario, Canada!!!)

Whether or not they put out good heat depends alot on what you are used to. If you currently have baseboard heat and in particular electric baseboard heat then you will likely enjoy the electric fireplace. The biggest difference is the fact that the heat is blown into the room which will warm you faster with just about the same electric usage.

have electric fireplace – use mostly for decoration – puts out heat but only feel it when you are close to the fireplace – doesn’t do a whole room for warmth.

As a whole, quite well with no wasted heat going up the chimney as waste,depending on size, style etc make sure that you put it on an electrical circuit thats strong enough to support the heater, preferably all by its self when in use, keep in mind too that it will have a pronounced effect on your electric bill.

I don’t know what type of electric fireplace you have or are considering on getting, however my mother has a small one that she uses just for decoration, looks like one of the old cast iron stoves from way back in the day (kinda like the real one we had when i was a kid). It puts out minimal heat, but has the logs and the lights and the fire sound. So mainly used for decoration.
My husband and I are getting one from home depot, that actually puts out a good amount of heat, and looks like the fireplace with the mantel and all. Really pretty, we are getting it mainly for decoration but according to the info I read on it, it actually puts out some heat and doesnt’ require outside ventalation or anything.
